Father Horacio Medina - Bridging Ministry, Social Work, and Education
Based in Bloomfield, New Jersey, Father Horacio Medina is a Roman Catholic priest, educator, and community leader. He serves as a priest with the Archdiocese of Newark, where he has been ministering since 1998. Father Horacio Medina blends pastoral ministry with community outreach. He visits people with ailments in hospitals regularly, and visits people in prison once per month, encouraging them and giving them hope. He also publishes daily gospel reflections, reaching 2,000 listeners.
Alongside his ministry, Fr Horacio Medina serves as a human resources manager at Maverick Building Services, Maintenance, and Cleaning, where he coordinates operations across multiple buildings in Essex County. He is also a professor at Saint Peter’s University, teaching ancient philosophy, ethics, and Spanish as a second language. In addition, he is an active union organizer and member of the Knights of Columbus.
Fr. Horacio Medina has an extensive academic background, spanning several disciplines and countries. He studied philosophy and humanities in Costa Rica, theology and sacred scripture in El Salvador, journalism in Honduras, and moral theology in Rome. In 2023, he earned a diploma in mental health first aid for adults from the National Council for Mental Wellbeing. His hobbies include volleyball, ping pong, and reading Shakespeare and drama books.
